Supported Housing

Lakeview’s Supported Housing program helps individuals select a home from a range of affordable area housing, and maintain the residence on a long-term basis. Lakeview’s Supported Housing Program is available in Livingston, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, Yates and Tompkins Counties.

The Supported Housing Program is available to those who have demonstrated ties to the community, and who have the ability to sustain themselves in an independent living situation.

In addition to recovering from a severe and persistent mental illness, qualified individuals include but are not limited to those who:

  • Have graduated from a certified residential program
  • Have been referred by their service providers, internal referrals, or self-referrals
  • Are homeless
  • Are residents moving from Adult Homes

Qualified individuals must meet the guidelines issued by OMH and HUD Section 8 Housing.

In addition to locating and securing suitable housing, Lakeview’s Supported Housing staff may assist individuals with:

  • Locating and securing safe and affordable housing
  • Accessing start-up funds for security deposits, furnishings, and utilities
  • Securing on-going rental assistance
  • Financial planning, management and assistance
  • Negotiating with landlords
  • Maintenance and upkeep of apartment
  • Linkage to services for funding, medical care, psychiatric care, substance abuse recovery services or to any other services as identified by the individual or service providers

The Supported Housing Program is accessed through the Single Point of Access (SPOA) referral process in Ontario/Seneca Counties. The Ontario/Seneca County SPOA Referral Coordinator is Betsy Fuller and can be reached at (315) 789-0550.

 

MICA Supported Housing Program

Lakeview’s MICA (Mentally Ill Chemical Abusing) Supported Housing Program helps individuals seeking to recover from a mental illness and drug or alcohol abuse select a home from a range of affordable area housing and maintain the residence on a long-term basis.  MICA Supported Housing is available in Wayne, Ontario, Seneca, and Tompkins Counties.

The MICA Supported Housing program is available to those who have demonstrated ties to the community and who have the ability to sustain themselves in an independent living situation.

Qualified individuals include those:

  • Leaving a certified residential program
  • In an out-patient setting
  • The homeless
  • Seeking substance abuse supports

In addition to locating and securing suitable housing, Lakeview’s MICA Supported Housing staff may:

  • Access start-up funds for security deposits, furnishings and utilities
  • Secure on-going rental assistance
  • Assist with linkage to natural and/of professional substance abuse supports

The MICA Supported Housing program is accessed through the Single Point of Access (SPOA) referral process in each county.  In Ontario and Seneca Counties, Lakeview MHS coordinates the SPOA.  The referral coordinator can be reached at (315) 789- 0550.
